"From The President"

Adapted from The Flier
Volume I, Number 1
January, 1999

Dear Friend,

It is with great joy that we send to you this first issue of our (hopefully) quarterly newsletter, "The Flier".

Naturally, because this is a new ministry, people have many questions _ "Who are you?", "How did you begin?", "What's your purpose?", "What plans do you have for the future?"

Due to the need for brevity, it would be impossible to fully satisfy all of these inquiries in one issue of a newsletter. Therefore, what I hope to accomplish is simply to introduce the ministry to you, giving the briefest of histories, an update on our current status, and a look ahead into the future. Hopefully, this will give you, the reader, an adequate picture of who we are.

On behalf of the entire board of directors, I want to thank you for your interest in this ministry. We pray that this newsletter, and all those to follow, will be a source of encouragement and challenge for you.

The Building Of Eagle's Nest Ministries, Inc.

In a sense, Eagle's Nest Ministries began in 1995 when an invitation was received to coordinate a short_term mission venture in Russia (the "January 1996 Mission To Moscow"). Our purpose was simply to train people to know, understand, and use the Word of God. Although the teaching often dealt with the Biblical account origins (Creation), there was certainly no limitation to that issue alone.

Over the next two years the ministry expanded as a result of invitations to assist other ministries in their labors, and through developing our own unique fields of service. However, it wasn't until very recently (after the "1998 Euro_Russia Mission Team", whose ministry focused ultimately in Romania) that a decision was made to formally charter the ministry as a non_profit corporation under the annotated code of the state of Maryland and the federal IRS code 501(c)(3).

This decision to incorporate was confirmed by six men, who serve as the current Board of Directors. Each of them has been involved with various aspects of the ministry, including time on the foreign mission field, and so they understand our purposes and modes of operation. Their unanimous vote to more actively pursue this ministry served as a real encouragement that this was indeed God's will for us.

A World Of Opportunity

We believe that our primary mission is three_fold:
  • To Glorify the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
  • To Strengthen His Church,
  • To Extend His Kingdom.
The principal means to accomplish these purposes, we believe, is to simply teach the Word of God. A substantial lack of Biblical understanding has been growing in the world today, especially in our young people. If we can, by God's grace, serve as a means of stemming the tide of this deadly ignorance, we believe our purposes will be well met.

We believe that God can use many types of circumstances and experiences to drive home lessons from His Word, and therefore we are investigating many different avenues by which to minister. In the mean time however, we have received many invitations to teach or assist in teaching in seminars, Bible schools, churches, prisons, and orphanages. We are trusting God to give us the wisdom how best to schedule these requests, so that they will be met in accordance with His plan for us.

Prayer Needs

  • Maintenance of the primacy of our relationship with Jesus Christ,
  • Wisdom as we make decisions,
  • Faithfulness to our calling.
We covet your prayers with us in these matters. Thank You.

In His Service,
Stephen Tecklenberg
